JScript to sort on Modified column

    Hi,
    I am not able to sort the view on Modified column by default. When i edit the view, there is no Modified column in the Sort list.
    Can this be achieved by adding a JScipt to the page. Please help me with JScript code for this.

    Is this in a list or library? Is the Modified column being displayed on the list/library? Have you tried to modify the default view so that it sorts via Modified?

    It is a Document Library. After moving documents useig Content and Structure there is no modified column in the Sort list.
    I can add or remove modified column from the view, but cannot get the same under Sort list to set this as default.

    can this be achieved with Javascript. I have used some of the Javascript provided by Paul and they work excellent. So, since this cannot be fixed, i thought as a workaround javascript would help. But i have no idea about javascript.

    Why not just use the View Sort by modified?

    Paul,
    I modified the view and did not find the Modified column under Sort By. I want this sorted by default.
