Note: Michael Gannotti and I just had an extended discussion on the status of EndUserSharePoint.com. I’m planning to have that recording available by noon today, EST.
Yesterday was pretty exciting as far as response from the SharePoint Community. Many companies and individuals stepped up and expressed the desire to help. Here’s the short form of what’s going to happen.
Tom at fpWeb.net and Jeff at Rackspace both stepped in to say “What can we do to help”? What ended up happening is that EndUserSharePoint.com will be utilizing both of the resources, getting the best setup for all involved. We’ll be using a MOSS implementation from fpWeb.net to run a SharePoint Community Calendar Site and run the Power User demos we’ve been building on the site for the Live Online EUSP Workshops. Rackspace will host the EUSP blog and Stump the Panel SharePoint Q&A Forum. I’ll followup with a detailed diagram of the infrastructure of the site as everything settles in.
I’ll be working hard over the next few days to get the content back in order. Expect little trickles and then a firehose as things get cranked back up.
These companys were instant in their response with no other ulterior motive than to help the community and get EUSP back up and running with the least pain as possible. They’ve got my respect and support. I hope you’ll send them a note in the comments section below expressing yours.
Gotta love the SharePoint Community! This is awesome news!
Great to hear Mark!!!! The SharePoint Community is a better place with EUSP around.
Awesome to hear. Way to go fpweb and rackspace and everyone else involved in helping out!
<3 SharePoint Community
Thank you guys so much for helping out this site. I’ve been using EUSP for some time now and have truly benefited from all the depth of knowledge of the contributors here. I hope that we’ll be able to have this site and Stump the Panel back and running soon. Ya’ll are awesome!
I haven’t used RackSpace, but I agree with your assessment of FPWeb. I made a complaint about something on Twitter (I host my WSS site with them: http://sympraxisconsulting.com) and got an email from the President just a few hours later. He agreed with my assessment, promised to fix it and upgraded me to a better server.

This is such great news. I can’t imagine a world without EndUserSharePOint.com helping users.
Both of these community members has done so much to help. Rackspace stepped up and helped Todd Klindt’s SharePoint podcast/blog when he needed help too.
Just goes to show how much the community cares and are willing to help. EUSP is, and has been for some time now, an absolutely amazing resource for users, and I am proud to be a part of it. Props and a big “Thanks” to both “fbweb.net” and “Rackspace” for stepping up to help Mark with getting the site back up…its awesome you guys are willing to do this.

I am so glad that we have resources like these that will provide that support to the community. Rackspace stepped up this week and provided a space for our user group to host a new website as well. Thanks… and Rackspace Rocks!
Mark,
This is great news! I can’t wait to see what is in store for EUSP in the upcoming year. Lots of great stuff I’m sure!
Thank you so much RackSpace and FPWeb! You came to the aid of a great resource for SharePoint!
Glad you’re back up and running Mark. We’re huge EUSP fans and user ourselvse. Glad Rackspace was able to jump in too. Good guys over there.
Thanks to both “fbweb.net” and “Rackspace” for stepping up and filling a void that left thousands “UNPLUGGED.”
Look forward to seeing more SP solutions and help for our SP End Users, Power Users, and Developers!!
The US military and other govt agencies have/will continue to benefit from the free sharing of ideas, techniques, and dev work.
Awesome Mark. Two great companies. I host my well… user-group-in-progress on the fpweb.net.
Rick
For those of you who didn’t catch it, that was Tom Brauch President of fpWeb.net, throwing roses at Rackspace.
Kudo’s to both those companies coming forward to help EUSP and the community. I can’t imagine not having EUSP around to help and advise our segment.
Great to see two of the biggest SharePoint Hosting providers step up to the plate like that. Awesome! Gotta love the SharePoint Community!
Looking forward to the relaunch Mark
Remember the names! Rackspace and fpweb.net!!
BTW I look forward to see your design for a true Sharepoint Environment. I’m confident it will be everything EUSP has come to stand for — excellence and solutions you can use, with a minimum of geekspeak
In addition to sending the companies a note – I strongly encourage each of you that twitter to drop a quick tweet thanking each company publiclly for their support of EUSP. #rackspace and #fpweb – and give them a little visibility on Twitter. A great way to say thank you publically in a way that might help each raise some visibility…
Absolutely wonderful. Thank you to both fpWeb.net and Rackspace for realizing what a great help YOU are being to the SharePoint community. In helping others, may your Christmas stocking be stuffed overflowing. As for the prior hosting company — I see sticks and old dirty pieces of coal. BTW — I have been and still serve at times as one of Santa’s helpers. Let’s just say Santa has been given the word about who has been naughty and who has been nice.
Mark,
Outstanding news! I’m can’t tell you how disgusted I felt when I heard what happen.
Thank you FpWeb.net and Rackspace your assistance is much appreciated.
That is great news, Mark. Karma does work. You do such a great service for the community, and it is a shame you have to go through these hardships. I do not know the guys over at Rackspace, but Tom and his people at FPWeb have been doing a great job for years. Tom has been kind enough to help with the hosting for the jPoint Project (open source) at http://sharejpoint.com.
Good luck!
Will
Best wishes for a speedy recovery…
Glad to hear people are still prepared to help each other in the “current climate”, hope you guys get up and running soon!
