Wow… it’s been a wild ride for the past twelve hours, but that will have to be talked about in a future article. In the meantime, here’s the situation.
The hosting service has shut down access to EndUserSharePoint.com due to heavy traffic. Fair enough. In a way, that’s good news. I’m in the process of moving to a more powerful solution, but it’s not going to happen today… too much setup and moving content for that.
In the meantime, I’ve created another blog instance on EndUserSharePoint.com. That’s what you’re looking at now. It’s just bare bones, but at least there’s a framework to work with. I’m waiting for the rest of the world to wake up and then start looking for a real solution.
Here are a couple of other sites to keep you busy till we get back up to speed.
The live online workshop “SharePoint Charts and Graphs: Part 02 (Sparklines)” will run as scheduled today, Wednesday at 1:00pm EST, since it is on another server.
Thanks for your support and concern. I’ll be updating the situation throughout the day on twitter: @EUSP. I’ll be back up and running very soon with some new things I’ve been working on the past few months. Now’s as good a time as any to push them out.
Regards,
Mark

Hi Mark,
Is there anyway you can e-mail the post that was located at http://www.endusersharepoint.com/2009/04/17/sharepoint-color-coded-calendar-the-payroll-schedule/
It’s the color coding calendar post. I was in the middle of trying to set one up to demo this afternoon. I knew I should have printed it out. Anyway, if you could send it to me I would greatly appreciate it.
Regards,
Alicia Lewis
Nope, sorry. They have completely blocked access to the content within the blog. — Mark
[My hosting service] did this to me and some of my partnesr’s sites. No prior notice, they just shut it down. Is this [My hosting service]?
(Edited by Mark Miller to mask name of hosting provider.)
Wow this sucks. Hope things get worked out soon
Grub – No, it wasn’t the host you are referring to. — Mark
Alicia,
Email me at [email protected] and I’ll send you the original article.
Then, make sure you read Christophe’s post here: http://pathtosharepoint.wordpress.com/2009/11/19/html-calculated-column-minor-update-and-some-advice/

Hi Mark,
Can you get in via ftp?
My hosting company blocked my ip address (to myself and also visitors) once due to a hacking incident but then released it back to me to ftp in directly only and download all content so I had a local copy.
I hadn’t realised your whole site was based on a blog! But it would give you the opportunity of saving pages as html as archived content wouldn’t it?
Just a thought…. Oh yes, and I really needed to put an urgent time related question to ’stump the panel’ tonight so now I am really stuffed too lol
You have the best site on the Net for Sharepoint end users through to developers and beyond, so there has to be a way of getting your content back, whether it’s hosted with the current providors or not!

J – They’ve got ftp blocked, too… first thing I tried. — Mark
Thanks Jim Bob, appreciate the backup. — Mark

Mr. Isaac – Nice idea, but all the images are blocked
I’m laughing because I didn’t know so many people would be affected by this. Really makes me feel wanted… I’ll be back up soon. — Mark
I was just answering a thread on the MSDN forums where someone was complaining that they were getting a 4040 on EUSP. Believe it, you’ve got fans!
M.
Mark, I’m devastated that this has interrupted your plans, not to mention access to the fabulous content that has generated the server load issues! Your passion for this work is shining through during these crazy days. Props to you, sir!
(On a purely practical note, for those of us enrolled in upcoming online training, will there be any service disruption?)
Erin.
Hi Erin – We delivered a workshop today and it went flawlessly. Shouldn’t be any problem. — Mark
Hi Mark,
This situation definitely blows! EUSP is one of the best SP website and provide incredible resources for end users to answer real life issues. Hope to get you back soon.
Greg
what’s your bandwidth and space requirement? If you’re interested, I’d be happy to discuss it.. my company’s got a decent Windows server out there.
In the meantime, back to googling sharepoint questions
Thanks Isaac. Some image are missing but I’ll try to make do without them.
Thanks!
Ian – Thanks for the offer. Really means a lot to have so much back up. Regards. — Mark
I can only imagine your frustration when this happened. I know with your expertise though the replacement will be better than the first. I host two sites on FPWEB and there are some great people over there.
Mark, this is Gail at Get the Point. Feel welcome to use our site for anything you need to get out there while you are dealing with these site issues. Just let us know how we can help
Gail – Thanks. I’m working 18 hours a day to get it back in better shape than it was. I’ve got content that’s sitting in the wings, ready to be published. I’ll definitely take you up on your offer if I fall much farther behind. — Mark
