The wf I have are only doing simple tasks. More like alerts for review. When item submitted. 2 emails sent. submitter and reviewer. reviewer works item and changes status, submitter receives message for each status change. not that much involved.
Toni on "Workflow Failure" http://www.endusersharepoint.com/STP/topic/workflow-failure#post-4040 Mon, 09 Feb 2009 12:36:33 +0000 Toni 4040@http://www.endusersharepoint.com/STP/
What is this workflow doing?

Is there an error in event log or in workflow history?

Have you applied newest hotfixes for SharePoint http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/office/sharepointserver/bb735839.aspx

You should also install this one: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;932394
jaxkookie on "Workflow Failure" http://www.endusersharepoint.com/STP/topic/workflow-failure#post-4039 Mon, 09 Feb 2009 12:21:31 +0000 jaxkookie 4039@http://www.endusersharepoint.com/STP/
I do not have that access and company policy limits what I have access to. When I talked to our SP admin he has no answer either. I don't even have to be the one triggereing the wf, but when someone views the wf status there is one every now and then that failed on start (retrying). and never restarts.
Toni on "Workflow Failure" http://www.endusersharepoint.com/STP/topic/workflow-failure#post-4021 Fri, 06 Feb 2009 17:13:14 +0000 Toni 4021@http://www.endusersharepoint.com/STP/
Are you logged in as system account?
jaxkookie on "Workflow Failure" http://www.endusersharepoint.com/STP/topic/workflow-failure#post-4019 Fri, 06 Feb 2009 16:48:25 +0000 jaxkookie 4019@http://www.endusersharepoint.com/STP/
I am finding that I have several wf failing on start. SPD was used to develop the wf so there is no advanced code. What else would cause this? How can I stop it from reoccuring? This nevers happens on the same items for the same reasons, so it can not be duplicated. Is there a way to detect this failure without going into the list and looking for all failed workflows. Like creating a second wf that checks the first wf status. Is there a way to trigger that second wf so it keeps checking that status, until it is complete or failed?
