Instead of making it text or rich text for formatting, in the "Format As" box, choose "List Form Field". Then, in the "Tag Properties" pane on the left of the screen in SPD, find the ControlMode box. Change the ControlMode to "Display".

Many thanks again!!!

In SPD I tried to reformat the links in a standard view that were associated with lookup columns to text but SPD would not allow it. There was no error message the change just would not save.
This is what I did

Open list>>List View Options>>Change Layout...>>Layout>>HTML view(so the list would display standard view)>>Convert to XSLT Data View>>Reformat the link

Any ideas?
Pete
