Thanks for this contribution. It is great to have an in-depth look at how you and your organization are taking advantage of SharePoint. Organizations that find the intersection of SharePoint and business process improvement not only reap the efficiency and economic returns, but protect SharePoint’s position as an enterprise must-have platform. I think your article will inspire others to explore how to link more process, content, and data together.

I also appreciated your discussion about the PM involving the end users in the process discovery and requirements gathering effort. I recently attended a session Mark Miller hosted at KMworld’s SharePoint Symposium where end-user engagements in process discovery and requirements building made for a lively panel discussion.

Business process improvement is one of the great ways to showcase and leverage Sharepoint’s power. As the success of these projects take off, it exposes people to various things that Sharepoint can do and opens their minds for adoption and future use.

Lots of great information here Nancy! Thanks for jumping into the author’s column with us. I was struck with your paragraph about the PMs analysis and documentation of the process. I do that mentally as I prepare for a project, taking some notes, but I’m starting conversations today about a big project where a thorough documentation of the process will be invaluable. Approaching it in this manner will be fantastic, thanks for the inspiration!
