It’s the little things that count
Last week at the New York City SharePoint User Group (NYC SPUG), Janelle Razzino gave a door prize of a $100 lottery ticket for a trip for two to the SuperBowl… private jet, limousine, hotel, the full works.
Genelle’s excitement was contagious. She said she didn’t really know much about SharePoint but attended the meetings because she thought she should know something about it since she runs an executive search firm. I spoke with her after the event, gave her my card so we could keep in touch, and then went home and told my wife about this incredible lady. My words were “This is someone I would want on my team.”
When I opened the mail today, there was a handwritten card from Janelle saying how nice it was to meet me and wishing me a happy holiday! Most of us think about doing things like that, but so few do. It was an unexpected surprise and just confirmed my point… I want this lady on my team. With social skills like that, how could we lose?
So thank you, Janelle, for reminding me that it’s the little things that make people feel good. It means a lot.
