Hi

We are thnking of using the Employee Training template as our course booking system, however there are a few things i need to know it can do. We have installed it "out the box" at the moment so can try any modifications you suggest.

  • registering students myself - registration seems to work based on the persons login into sharepoint. Not all out students have computer ids, is it possible for the teacher to register them
  • create a wait list - can I put a course on or create a list that people can book on and only when we have enough students we create a course?
  • mark a person as absent - in the tests I have done when a c ourse has finished it automatically sent an email to say thanks for attending. Is there any way the teacher can mark attendance?
  • report on attendance - I would like as the administator to be able to see within a 1 year period all attencence / bookings/ non attendance / cancellations, is there any way I can create a list that will look at all the other lists and produce that for me?

Thanks you very much for reading

Regards

meames

1. The only method to register participants is to do it after the session is over. The site would need to be rebuilt to accomodate instructors/admins registering users.

2. I'm looking into a waitlist type functionality as we might expand the use of this internally. I'm thinkg of a separate custom list where users can add themselves and using web services or workflows, add users to particular groups. Then by utilizing the audience targetting in the courses list, expose those groups to courses so they get first crack at registrations.

3. We handle this by allowing the admins to remove users from the past registrations list. They take attendance in their sessions and remove no show users. The past registrations list is the official history in our case.

4. You'd just look at your past registrations list. You could always add an additional choice column to this list that the instructors would be able to flag as attended, no show, cancelled and view the data via views or exporting the data to Excel for analysis.
