I have wss 3.0 , i am uploading documents , but i want to restirict users to get download these documents , users can only read the documents
I have dont any idea regarding jqery or .net programming
Is is possible , if yes please help me

In short... you cannot OOTB. If they can see a document in SharePoint they will be able to download it.

The thing you are looking for is Windows Rights Management Services. It is a Windows technology that extends SharePoint rights management abilities. With RMS you will be able to control (in Windows domain environment) who can edit, print, forward your document. From my experiences it might be somewhat complicated to implement it correctly.

We have SharePoint 2007 and what we have done is to save the .doc as a web page (.htm) (NOT a single file web page!) and then display it on a web part page using as Content Editor web part (in Content Link). The document is then updated via the .htm file and then is automatically seen via the web part page. Users can still copy the text from the page. We use the web part page to provide access to other relevant info and POCs related to the .doc.
(Note: For us the use of a single file web page doesn't work in a CEWP this way; we have had to go into page maintenance to delete to locked up web part.)

Please tell me that i will require to install rms server setup only on WSS server and install the rms client setup on every PC which are accessing the the site .

Please tell me the process .
