Stump the Panel: SharePoint Q&A

I created a couple of custom lists on my SP homepage and populated them some items.

The site has grown in complexity and I need to move these lists to a different tab (i.e., site) but I don't know how to do it. If I try to save the list as a template I get an error (I don't think I have rights to save template files). I do have Designer 2007 access. Anyway, what's the easiest way to move stuff between sites on the same SP server?

p.s., I didn't notice an import from Excel option when creating a new list... is export/import considered a best practice?

Well the best way is to create a list template or create a content type so that the data/list can be moved around easily.
In your case as you don't have the access right to save as a template, Import/Export through Excel looks the best option.
