Content You’d Like to See on EndUserSharePoint.com
As a follow-up to this morning’s article, SharePoint Noise Reduction Filter, I’ve setup an anonymous poll to get feedback on the type of content you’d like to see on the site. This is just a quick one-off to start the dialog. Please feel free to add comments or suggestions.

Your site has opened my eyes to the many possibilites of customizing my SharePoint sites. I’m not a code writer. But I can understand much of what is going on in the fantastic capabilites your site demonstrates.
There are some out of the box things I’d like to see explained and explored I don’t find anywhere, including Microsoft.
I would like some examples on how to use the “Calculated Value” at the bottom of most field types where you go to set up a field. It must be usefull for something – I think.
One of the things I really value about EndUserSharePoint.com is the amount of information for out of the box solutions that need just a bit of tweaking. There is a ton of SharePoint information out there for people coding from the ground up, but not too much that the end user can use.
This is a “more than expectations” site with tonnes of information for both end users and administrators. Mark, how about a Shanghai Chapter of this site? http://www.endusersharepoint.com.cn ? I’d be more than glad to work with you on this and help the site reach the growing MOSS userbase in China.
Hi Mark…..This is a great site providing many out of the box solutions as well as end-user customizations that don’t involve hard-core IT resources.
jquery, charting and more workflow examples and content simply increases the overall value of the site.
One thing I am watching to see what develops is the proliferation of SharePoint 2010 specific content….even though it won’t be out till mid-next year.
We just got our SharePoint 2007 infrastructure up and running a short time ago and really don’t have the money to invest another $100k in CAL’s to upgrade to 2010.
I think there are a lot of companies in the same boat as us and I am sure there are tons that have been running 2007 for a while and have many custom solutions in place and are also not looking to move to 2010 in today’s economic times.
My fear is that content and focus will shift from 2007 to 2010 making this site (and other sites as well) less valuable to those that are on the 2007 platform.
Perhaps there is a need to segregate content into content that is specific to 2007 only, content that is related and works for both 2007 & 2010 and content that is only specific to 2010….or something similar.
Yep, content segregation is on the way. I’m deciding on whether to isolate it to another blog or not.
EUSP will be concentrating on SharePoint 2007 for the near future. 2010 won’t become part of the picture until there is at least enough adoption to make it worth creating scripting solutions for it.
I agree with segregating 2010 information from 2007. My interest is in seeing what others are doing on their internal portals. For instance, I know that Sharepoint is being strongly embraced by the healthcare field, and that many of us developing content are not IT people. I’d like to hear from the non-IT groups about what they are doing and how they are improving processes with Sharepoint.
Something I find myself in need of more and more is simply people to bounce ideas off of…. I am the only SharePoint person at my company, and when I have a problem or need to brainstorm a solution within the confines of my limitations (no code, SPD only, etc.), I KNOW that there are lots of creative ways to finally get something acocmplished. But I have nowhere to go!!
Stump the Panel is sort of where I have been turning for this but it’s not the best use of that forum- it’s not that I am “stumped,” I just want some other brains to weigh in. Not sure how EUSP can help in this regard, but I just wanted to put it out there.
Another thing I’d like to reiterate is my strong preference for documentation vs screencasts; for all the reason previously presented. Not that screencasts do not have their place- but for me, I have to see it to really “get it.”

Chiming in on hopes that SharePoint 2010 as a topic/focus does not take over the world… I want to learn about it but to have that content kept apart will definitely be useful.
Ditto what Nancy said! :) I too am frequently just looking for someone to point me in the right direction.
Also, if possible ( and I understand that many companies would not want to share) it would be helpful to see screenshots of working Intranets. To get an idea of what types of layouts, navigation, groupings, structure, and web parts/features businesses are really using.
