2008-11-07 Friday Tips for SharePoint End Users
Let’s head for the weekend with three quick hits: Bill English on Findability, a new search engine called PDFGeni for finding SharePoint files, and Marwan Tarek on how to use a mind map to help plan your information architecture.

Findability and SharePoint (Series)
Bill at the Bill English Blog
I saw Bill last month at the New York City SharePoint Users Group. The talk he gave there is coverd in this series. In this article, Bill talks about the true cost a poorly planned ‘findability’ strategy in SharePoint.
PDFGeni – Free PDF Search Engine
PDF Search Engine at PDFGeni.com
This is a very simple search engine that only looks for PDFs. It reminds me of the simplicity of the original Google interface. There are dozens of free, downloadable resources on SharePoint.
SharePoint Site Mind Map
Marwan at Marwan Tarek’s blog [MVP SharePoint]
I use mind maps everyday when it comes to brainstorming site architecture. Marwan shows a design phase mind map that might help as you are working through your Information Architecture phase.
