Can I display multiple web parts from a single list?

Today’s question is pretty common:

I have an Excel spreadsheet that keeps track of my products from multiple vendors. Is there a way to create a dashboard that will display the information for each vendor?”

Yes, there is, and it is very simple to implement. Follow these steps

  1. Import your spreadsheet into SharePoint as a list
  2. Create views against the list that will filter for each vendor
  3. Move to your dashboard and insert a web part, pointing to each view created

Below is a screencast demonstrating the process. It is a little longer than normal, running at 7 minutes, but I hope you find it worth your time. Special thanks go to WebBorg blog for the tip on inserting multiple web parts without having to use the clunking SharePoint interface for each instance of the web part.
